Returning to Turkey at a young age, he later pursued his university education in the USA, earning a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Kentucky. From 1990 to 1995, he worked at the Ankara office of the American aerospace company Martin Marietta. He ventured into sports broadcasting and rights as ESPN's representative in Turkey. In 1995, he founded his own company, laying the foundation for Saran Holding.


During his university tenure, Saran captained the swimming team and was twice named the most valuable athlete.
